This is going to sound weird, but how are your calves?
ALWAYS tight.  Not sure why, but known issue for many years.  I will usually get a charlie horse in calves/toes if I ever do a full body stretch, point my toes, or sometimes just going up/down stairs.

I would really recommend trying to get every muscle on the back of your leg loosened up. Stretch those calves by hanging off a stair in the house. Hold every stretch for a really long time. If I don't stretch my calves, my back is worthless and it happens right about where you are talking. The only thing that solves it is getting my calves and hamstrings loosened up.

agree with entire back of leg loosening. that and front of hip stretching has made my back infinitely less troublesome, and i have a back that i had to buy a 1400 dollar chair for work for..

also going to town pinching the sides of your heel, moving up toward your achilles. that connection point can mess up feet/plantar stuff, and lower back stuff

I guess this is my fault, but lately no one has been coming to the 5 am class (well only 3-4 people) so I havent been signing up until the morning off (that way if I sleep in or feel like **** in the am I can punt and come another time) - we only have 8 spots per class so I wake up at 0400, make some coffee, let the dog out, decide which pair of shoes I am going to wear, etc, go to sign in and **** - its full :(   Looks like the owners wife had some friends in town ( probably to see the baby)  but I am annoyed and upset with myself at the same time!

Now I have to either feel fat all day or try and make it home for the 5 PM class

And God Dammit I was going to go to Canes for lunch today - double :(   :(

so we broke up wih our gym Friday, still feel bummed a litlte, mainly just for the convienence factor but I couldnt see ever going back after a couple of events, that involved the Mrs..

2 weeks or so ago the wife had came into workout after a really ***** day, I think she had 3 patients all die, head messed up, so you go to the gym to clear up your mind. (which is why none of you all will ever understand how the last 6 months has been in our house - re the other Corona thread)

It was a tough workout, lots of rowing, I think she gave out with around 30 seconds left on a 30 min "AMRAP" - owner called her out basically for being  a quitter in front of a full class, I am sure he didnt realliy mean to, but dude has no F'n clue what its like working a real job, let alone what she does.. so this ***** her up for a few days, I try and give the guy the benefit of the doubt as maybe he was just over enoucraging her, a few days later there is another heavy rowing workout, all she can think about is being called a quitter, so I do the workout in the am and then I text her to just run instead of row - so she does so- but I guess dude got pissed she didnt "ask" to run versus row (this is a pretty common thing in XF) and I have seen many people sub out running for rowing and rowing for running..

So owner calls the wife in to "chat" and basically admonishes her for not asking permission to change the workout - of course she tells him to GFY and walks out - Tone wasnt "hey if you want to make a change please talk to me about it" it was " You Will Not Change My Workouts!" - lol See yah..

Now why if you have someone paying for 3 memberships (like $5K / year) why you would risk this? Dude is already having trouble filling classes - I dont wish him ill will but I just dont understand it.

Wife already went to a new gym today, Im going to a new one tomorrow, were going to bounce around and see what else is out there - the good news is that most other gyms offer a couples discount which would save $1200/ year.

Yeah I couldnt really believe it - Ive told him this last 6 months has given her some level of PTSD and that the gym is healthy for her.  I dont imagine the guy has ever been in the situation where your job kicked your ass so bad that just getting off the couch and getting to the gym is a victory.

But I think the wife got a little fooled about being part of a community - awhile ago I told her that we are customers at a strip bar, ans the stripper likes us only as long as we keep sliding those dollar bills across the table...

We actually felt bad during the Govt Shutdown for them and kept paying for aorund 2 months..   I already told the place I am trying out tommorrow that I am paying by check, month to month and dont plan to get super invovled outside of just getting a good workout in..

Whoa. This was a good reminder to be really thankful for what I have going at my gym. The smoke is awful here and I walked in and was like, "Hey, I'm down some lung capacity," and they had already been thinking about it for everyone and for me. They care that we're still hitting the "intended stimulus" so sometimes that means I can do box step ups and sometimes it means I'm stacking plates to jump on. No one ever gets called out in front of a class in a serious manner.

I feel like you stuck with them through a lot of ****, including his wife. This is going to be good for you guys.

Still waiting to hear back from our gym so see how long the membership was extended for them being closed.  We prepaid the year because the cost drops substantially over paying as you go.  So we didn't have the choice to keep paying to help them out or to pause the membership.  They had started up outdoor classes of the regular indoor, but I wasn't going to roll around on an asphalt parking lot to do pilates when I can't find a mat long enough to not have a quarter of my body handing off while the class is offered inside.

JFC, so it really IS a cult.
