Yeah, I used my legs, but part of my issue was that we had to push out and around an obstacle and then stop at a wall. My brain was generally distrustful of my ability to stop my body.

Like climbed a communication tower? What kind of tower?

Process tower, vertical vessel. Fixed straight ladder climbs. I think it was ~70 foot of ladder climb total. My fat arse wouldn’t attempt that now.

Whoa! That's impressive. I find my grip strength was the first thing I really had to improve and learn to trust. I was exhausted from clenching whatever I was climbing.

Ha! Of course being late 20’s and not too badly out of shape helped. Now that I’m going on 40 and have had several years of little exercise, I’d die trying to climb 5 feet! Which is why I’m looking at adding in exercise. I think the “getting old” feeling is worse when you are very out of shape.

Speaking from first hand experience....yes it is.  That’s my primary reason for finally getting to the gym on a semi regular basis (and it needs to be more regular). Getting out of the office for field work used to be “fun” but I really don’t like it any more at all.  Probably because we typically go inside places where very few people ever go (and most people never want to go).

broke my red band on monday.  that was my go-to for tricep work.  dammit.

also did my first legs workout in a loooooong time this past friday and my ass is still terribly sore.  wife punched my ass over the weekend and my yelp scared her and the dog.  good times

wife is down about 10lbs with the Xfitt stuff.

She nagged me to get a "punch card" so I could sometimes go with her but not pay the $180!/ month - I have gone a few times, but the thing I dislike the most about this style of workout is the social interaction / group and partner workouts. I actually do like the actual workout part and can see why people get results but I just don't like to talk to people or vice versa when I am working out if that makes sense. One time I went and I had to partner with this 21 year old female who was amazingly fit and I just felt like I was the 45 year old dad bod dude dragging her down - like this woman could be an NFL Cheerleader and my old ass is like, how many minutes on the rower does it take to get to 50 calories?

For me my work day consists of meetings, talking on the phone, talking in meetings, yelling at contractors, getting yelled at by contractors, etc, I just really prefer to workout by myself and not talk to anyone - I told this to the owner of the gym and my wife and she took it as I don't like to spend time with her, jesus Christ....   its like females like to punish you because you want to maybe spend an hour a day that isn't with them (work doesnt count as "alone time") & for those that know me I don't consider myself an introvert by any means..

Like an hour jog and not having to talk to someone relieves so much stress from my brain, it allows me to forget all the BS i have to do the next day at work - having to count how many pull ups and air squats each of us have done while the clock ticks away and then count how many reps we have to do running 100 M sprints behind the gym just isn't all that much fun to me..

i hated partner workouts and i also hated finishing last and having the whole class cheer me on to finish.  Just let me finish on my own without the embarrassment of having the whole class watch me die to finish.

P90X at home, bro!  I talk to no one and the only people around me are the kids and the wife... who doesn't like my choice of workout music very much so I rarely see her.  It's also hella cheap in the long run.

You lost me "at home" - The escape of not being at home nor work is my main motivation in working out.

Same....  I am fine with a little socializing before/after/between sets, but other than that leave me alone unless I want a spot.

I beat Beethoven on Saturday. (Beat Beethoven 5K run)  Probably not the smartest thing I have ever done.  About a week and a half ago a really hurt my left calf. I haven't run all winter so after i signed up i thought i should at least get one mile in to see just how horrible the race was going to be. I got my mile in and then was playing with the doggo and she was chasing me etc and i planted and pushed off and felt instant pain in my calf, it knotted up hard.  I rested it, rolled it out, massaged it and it was feeling fine.  I didn't run at all for a week and the pain was gone and i could flex my calf and walk normally so then i told myself what the heck I will run, it felt fine. Right before the race i was doing my warm up run and dammit. pain right back in my calf.  I should have just went home then but I was whatever, i will just limp along and walk/jog the whole thing. Being stubborn and dumb i didn't walk or jog.  I ran it.  I ran it basically landing flat footed with very little push off on my left the whole run. It aches still but it doesn't hurt very bad so i am just doing to rest it.  I should stick to powerlifting and strongman.  I keep thinking these fun runs are fun.

Agreed on PL and strongman!  Or at least the strongman part.  I recently bought some of that magnesium oil spray.  Some of my more trusted references swear by it for knotted/cramped muscles.  Cheap enough to give it a try!  Smells like shit and is greasy, though.

throwing around heavy weights is a lot more fun than joggin. whenever i got passed by some skinny runner i would say to myself oh yeah, can you deadlift a ford focus.  for reps.  30 reps in a minute to be exact. :) i am going to check out some magnesium oil spray.  i take ZMA before bed everyday.

oh and I heard CBD oil fixes everything.  at least that's what all these chicks on IG say and if i use their code i can get 10% off my order!

Not in Ohio.  They can only sell the super watered down stuff.  I've got an aunt in PA who must be selling it because she posts stuff on FB all the time.  Maybe I should see if she'll send me some of the full-strength stuff.

Some people here swear by it ,others say its snake oil. I have not tried it- one of the wife's friends had a bad concussion at work and she said its the only way she makes it through the day.
