It's frustrating to put 'detail' in (as requested) when they only give to two lines on your Work Experience Report.

Yep, that was tough, trying to condense eveything I do into a few statements that comply with their categories and have it still make sense.

But, I finally got it done and dropped my app in the mail today. None of my references have gone out yet, but thankfully they all all work in my office so I can keep tabs on them.

I've been crafting my thoughts on the computer for each one.

I think I'll look them all through tonight and finish the forms tomorrow. With any luck I'll get the envelopes all addressed/stamped and get the whole mess out by Saturday AM.......

Regarding a topic touched on earlier in the thread - a friend of mine (who has gathered enough references to be licensed in about 25 states) confirmed that each reference sheet should be accompanied by an SASE. Too bad he didn't tell me that BEFORE my sheets were distributed.

My experience is automotive OEM, so it may not apply to your situation, but I wanted to hit all of the disciplines (planning, design, consultation, investigation, evaluation, and repair); here is a sample:

- Investigated potential field problems relating to materials (urethanes, polymer body panels), electrical (relays), safety components (seat belts) and driveline components (AWD systems);

- Evaluated the frequency and severity of field issues and presented information to leadership for consideration of field action. Some of these investigations resulted in field actions such as Customer Satisfaction or Safety Recalls, some did not;

- Planned and Designed field fixes to repair problems identified (with the Design Release and Service organizations). Consulted with Design & Release groups to ensure that lessons learned from previous product investigations were incorporated into the best practices for future designs.

(I also included my design and release experience with airbags and steering wheels in a separate entry.)

Thanks - that helps give me an idea at least... I'm mainly HVAC, so to list the number of projects i've worked on would be a little ridiculous.

I have confirmation that all my references have been returned except the one from my boss. It's just sitting on his desk. I go in there every couple days and hint around about how much I appreciate him making the time to complete the form. I'd like to try the "hard sell" but he's my boss.

They cashed my check shortly after I sent it a couple weeks ago. The links for "Check a License" and "Forms and Publications" are not working (timing out) on michigan.gov/engineers, maybe they are updating the database - fingers crossed!

11:30am EST Update:

I just tried "Check a License" and was 0-for-2 (mine and a guy I know who passed in April). I have a feeling he'll get a number before I do because my application for FE confirmation was initially returned from the FL board.

Did you receive the wallet certificate in the mail first, or were you included in the "check a license" link on the website first? (It's been 4 weeks since they cashed my $75 check and counting.)

Either way, I'll be waiting a little longer. I found out that my Boss had not sent in my paperwork yet. That's ok, he's only had it 3 or 4 weeks. I leaned on him a little bit and it's in the mail now!

This is what i'm afraid of... I'm relying on people from my last job (that I left only 2 months ago) to turn in paperwork. I have no idea if it has been or not, and dont want to bug them about it. I wish there was a way to check and see what, if any, has been turned in. (without asking each person I mean)

Also, on the Michigan.gov/engineers FAQ it indicates that "pending" should appear in the "verify a license" look-up (actually the link is "find a license" on the website) once the application is complete/approved. Anybody see this yet? Of course it also says that incomplete work-experience forms will be returned. It's 5.5 weeks and counting for me since they cashed my $75 check --- I can't call until 6 weeks have past. Were we only supposed to send the $35 application fee initially?

Sorry I don't have more answers for you. But I can tell you that neither me nor my friend have been licensed yet, according to the website.

We each applied for license and had references returned within a week of getting our results.
