Bonus/ Raise for getting the PE License

Come on people...lets hear it. Any one get a fat bonus or a big raise for getting their license this year ? Wouldn't be surprised of many employers will use the "state of the economy" argument to skimp on raises this year.

    Question on working problems

a good mix of everything you listed above. As far as design problems go, if you do not get to the answer in 2-3 steps, you are probably on the wrong track. So fairly straightforward ones involving a series of plug and chugs.

    Air pollution control

Not having a background in HVAC/Thermo and being really short on prep time, I took a risk by skipping those sections totally...don't regret it. Might have lost a question or two. Then again that was October09, may be different in April 2010. I suggest working hard on the enviro-related topics...

How Much of Pay Raise after PE Certification?

All expenses (books, travel, etc) covered. $2,500 spot bonus for passing the exam (Uncle Sam took a nice chunk out of it thought) Probably the regular 5-6% raise. Given the market conditions, I am not complaining.

    Air pollution control

Found ENVRM to be quite sufficient for the air pollution topics. Make sure you read up a bit about regulations though (EPA Fact Sheets should suffice). Focus on air control strategies. Good luck.

Environmental PE exam-any state with less than 3yr experience requirement for masters degree

Thats an interesting nugget of information Kevin. While we are discussing State requirements for licensure- has anyone had success getting a FL PE through comity/reciprocity. I decided to get my PE in Ohio as Florida would not let me take the test (undergraduate deficiency in Humanities). Like...

    Question on working problems

As a freshly minted PE, most of the study material is pretty fresh in my head. All the above posts are correct. Skip the intro and go straight to the meat. Lindberg and associated material overprepares you. Before the test if you feel comfortable with the practise problems - you are in great...

NC State DVDS. Are they worth the investment?

A friend gave me the DVDs when I was preparing for my exam. To be honest, I did not find them useful at all. The material barely scratched the surface as far as useful topics. Obviously, you cannot interact with anyone or ask questions. Very boring material. The students on the DVD looked as...

Environmental PE exam-any state with less than 3yr experience requirement for masters degree

Kevin - My understanding is that almost all states require 4 years of experience after your Bachelors. Many states will count your Masters as one year of experience. I am not aware of any state that will consider less than 3 years of work experience. Good luck and Happy Holidays..!

    October 2009 Envl PE

Just wanted to add one more tip for future test takers - taking a cue from my supervisor (an old school PE), I created an exhaustive 40 page index of topics/ problems. 7-8 pages of each major topic (waste water, potable water, air, MSW, Stormwater, EHS and Remediation). The list contained key...

    October 2009 Envl PE

Agreed. The PM section had more remediation problems than expected and you need to prepare for remediation a lot more than what ppi material goes through. Strongly recommend "Practical Designs for Soil GW Remediation" (or something like that) by Jeff Kuo. Was able to answer all questions (I...

    October 2009 Envl PE

Hi Everyone - A few random thoughts on the exam The exam was easier than what I was expecting. I had used most of the PPI stuff (EERM, Solved, Practise problems, NCEES sample questions and 60 min solutions. Walking into the test hall, I was very nervous about the level of difficulty. Turned out...
