I took it in 2006.  The first time, I got a score (68...real bummer).  The second time I took it was the time when they stopped giving you a score and only pass/fail results.  I think I was able to check our secretary of state's website to see if I'd been issued an EIT license before I actually got the letter in the mail.

I don't remember being this anxious about the results back then.  Man, I'm old.  Taking the PE 13 years after graduating from college really sucks.

I hear ya.  I made a 69 the first time I took the FE. But I definitely do not remember stressing about taking it a second time.

Try taking the PE 20 years after graduating... THAT really sucks....anyway I can totally relate...let's hope for a PASS come next Thu...

There is hope.  I took the PE last April and passed 24 years after graduating.  Hang onto hope.  You can do it.

Back in my time, I took PPI then EET. EET > PPI in my opinion, for civil structural.

When you took the exam, did you bring PPI materials, EET materials, and all the recommended design codes? 

I read some of your old posts , more or less how many practice problems in total you have solved?

Definitely bring all the design codes. You can get by with just chapters 1-4 in aashto, as those have all the loading information. You wouldn't want to be asked a simple look it up in the code type question and not have the code available. I didn't take any courses but I brought way too much material with me, in terms of practice problems etc. I would probably bring the same amount again though, because a lot of my issues with exams come from anxiety and being anxious that I didn't bring something I of course might end up needing definitely wouldn't add to my probability of passing. I know I'm no leggo, but my $0.02

Dean, as tj mentioned bring any code references you have that is in the exam specifications.  If the code is referenced in the specs they can ask you anything from that code. 

In regards to bringing practice problems try to group them or make an index with the question topic and where to find it. You will not believe how many times you might get stuck and say " I know I did a similar problem" and then panic because you spend time looking for it and then can't remember where that practice question was at.

Ugh...anxiety has well and truly kicked in this morning :wacko: . I'm curious to see what will happen when registration opens, even though I'm sure it won't make any difference.

So question for all you PE's out there - once you received the NCEES "Results are available" email, did you get any follow up congratulatory emails from NCEES or your state? The thought of opening that NCEES website again to check fills me with dread, and it would be so much easier with a email hint before hand...yes, i'm feeling a little fragile today - think I might go and spam some more christmas songs...

Short answer, yes. But not in the time frame you are looking for.

After passing, In Maryland I got an email ~2 weeks later informing me of the next steps to actually obtain my license. The timing of this email varies, but it almost certainly won't be simultaneous with the release of the results. A couple months after I got the results and registered for a license, I got a snail mail from the MD NSPE chapter inviting me to the Engineer Awards ceremony in April. This is where they provided me with the wall certificate. Those who did not attend had their wall certificates mailed to them.

After failure, PCS sent out the test diagnostic. I don't remember any emails from NCEES or Maryland. It's possible that they were sent, but I don't recall them. Since Maryland is no longer a PCS state this process could have changed.

Quality and variety. You never know if the test question will be straight chug-and-plug, or complicated where you need to use geometry or other knowledge/equations to solve for 1 piece of information before you can solve the problem. Like the saying goes, prepare for the worst but hope for the best.
