I would try to shoot for 80/80 when you're studying.

I know that seems ridiculous/harsh, but especially now that it is no longer breadth + depth on the mechanical exams I think the expectations might be higher. If you go into your prep thinking "I can afford to miss these topics that I am not very good at" then you leave no margin for minor errors (missed unit, fat finger calculator) on the topics you are good at.
I don't think that's harsh at all. This was a completely different exam than it used to be, in a good way IMHO. I think with more studying I will ace the test in October and be a PE by Nov/Dec/whenever they end their fun torturing us with waiting on results. Thanks for sharing your results tho I haven't seen a 60 so mid 50's was probably very close for this particular exam.

You can do it.  I remember when my dad failed a professional test when I was a kid, and the excitement, joy, and pride I felt when he passed it the second time.

Failure sucks! But you'll pass it in October, and I'll pass it in October. And your kids are going to be so proud of you no matter what.
Thank you @txjennah - that made me feel good. You're right, we are totally going to CRUSH it in October! Bring it on NCEES... :reading:

I looked at my Civil WRE diagnostics and it showed only a 40/80, but my score was 61.  My guess is a 50/80 would have passed Civil WRE April 2017 exam.  I am not looking forward to the many sleepness nights studying for the October exam.

49/80, we should exchange emails to form a study group for construction depth, I think I might try EET.
I'm a little slammed right now, but in the coming weeks I'd be happy to do a writeup on my preps if there is interest.

I did not take a course, didn't finish engineering school, and felt that I didn't prepare as adequately as I should have.

The one thing in my favor (besides experience) was the fact that I took the FE in Nov.

Congratulations! It had a very low passing rate last go around. I am still waiting for my results but also took construction.
Thank you.

It was a tough choice between structures and construction. My background is more in structures, but a lot of coworkers advised that I take construction. Glad I listened.

Man..yesterday was devastating. Thought I did enough to pass. Got 53/80..ME HVAC..time to dust up and grind again. Trying to figure out what went wrong and what should I do different tis time around (2nd try)..do we really need the ASHRAE handbooks and 62.2 standard for the exam? will not take chance in Oct...since the passing % varies..

Oh I meant someone else, on this board..lol I know you don't have to study. If you ever post some advice that would be great. Wow you didn't finish engineering school,

and didn't take a course, that's amazing.

Yeah, I realize you were talking to another poster.....I just figured if you guys found find it helpful, I'd be more than willing to lay out my study plan.

It seems like you would get the same thing some female engineers get in college - did you pass because you made the cut score, or did you need the help from the extra points?  Not good from either side.
What kind of extra points do female engineers get in college on exams?? I don't think I got any,

I have NEVER heard of female engineers getting any extra points. I think this is silly and likely very incorrect.

I never heard stuff like that for scores, but I do feel for female engineers. There are a lot of people who feel that female engineers get interviews/jobs because they are such a minority and many question whether a female earned the position or was awarded it. It's an awful mindset and I'm glad that there are more and more female engineers graduating because it helps dispel the nonsense.

Geotechnical 50/80, excellent morning, and a pathetic afternoon depth performance.

My diagnostics report showed that I missed alot of problems that I felt strong on.  I need to sharpen up my test taking skills and be disciplined enough to spend a little time to double check answers.  I felt like I wasted too much time trying to find solutions for the questions that I had no prayer on.  A few silly mistakes in the morning and afternoon could have helped change that red fail box into a green pass box.  Good luck everyone for the October exam

I would definitely recommend bringing the ASHRAE handbooks; there are a few questions that were just looking up the answers or equations to solve. Other than that I brought the MERM, NCEES practice book, and a personalised binder.

I also studied with help of this youtube playlist:

This guy is a saint.
