Well, I guess everything is negotiable. I work for a construction company as a project manager, but we have three divisions which include bridge work, commercial construction, and geothermal. There is no PE on staff. We have one other engineer that is working toward his PE but he is still a couple of years away. They have paid everything up to this point but it comes down to how they want to structure my position in the company. I feel I am in a good position, but I have to pass.
Basically, it is a tax that professionals in the state of Tennessee must pay in order to have the luxury to practice in this state.
Another way for the man to get some tax money since we don't have a state income tax.
I have been checking the State directory probably 4 times a day for the past 2 weeks in hopes of getting the results that way. The first time I saw my name I got a little excited, but then to only realize my status was "Application in Progress". Apparently it is good to check...my boss found out he passed by checking the State directory before he received his letter.
I know it is easy to get excited but why would they make your file # the same as a license #? The numbers appear to be in sequential order.
Based upon when the State received the results from NCEES and when I started checking the directory, the "Application in Process" statement appeared under my name before I had confirmation from Wanda Phillips that they had received the results. My guess is that the status begins when you are approved for the exam and entered into the database.
I think this is right. I have been checking the site daily too, just hoping for some good news. But I think they would not say you are licensed until all fees have been paid.
