I need more nyquil...
My laptop is a 6 yr old Lenovo with Vista. I got the blue screen of death while uploading photos to snapfish, and now it keeps giving me disk errors when I try to boot it up. I think it's time to scrap the laptop unless you know any laptop magic.Hmm. . . My computer says "A disk read error has occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". I think this might be bad.Did this happen while in Windows and it crashed or was this during boot-up? How old is "Ol' Bessie"?Does that ever make the computer turn back on? This wasn't my first blue screen of death on Ol' Bessie, but the first one she won't recover from.
It's most likely not the laptop but rather the hard drive. Typical consumer-grade hard drives tend to only last about 5 years but continue to slow down throughout that time-frame. Your saved data can be easily recovered and a new hard drive put in if you wanted to continue using that machine. But you are probably due for an upgrade anyway. 2 brands I typically do not recommend to people are Toshiba and IBM (Lenovo). I'm partial to ASUS, ACER, and HP (in that order). My laptop is a 6 yr old Lenovo with Vista.
