How much did you study for the PE

Man, 55 out of 80 must have been tought to swallow, being so close. I worked at it about an hour or two nearly every weekday, then about 4-8 hours on weekends, for about 6 months and was fortunate enough to make it on my first attempt in October 08. I also would sometimes take 2 or 3 days off...

    Alabama - Results

Good job. Did you get your wall certificate as well? I quickly ordered a duplicate so I could have one at the house and one at the office.

    Alabama - Results

Me 2. It was the fastest check I've ever written! The letter implied that the wallet card would come later than the wall certificate, but they arrived the same day.

PPI sent me 3 emails today

You need to repeat your 3rd grade geography class; the capital of AL is Montgomery, not Birmingham. Then again, I suppose 3rd grade was the four toughest years of your life.

    Camara Books

Hey, I'm used to being abnormal. Something about the Camara problems just didn't "feel" right to me. While some did seem a bit too easy, others seemed to be more "academic" in nature. I did have the EERM during the exam, but I think I only used it for the interest tables for the econ problems.

    Camara Books

Not sure, but I do know that if I had to do it all over again (which, thankfully, I don't), I wouldn't bother with any of his books. I thought they were a waste of time and money.

Everybody knows there are 57 states; Obama said so and he is never wrong.

    2009 PE Exam Study Materials?

That was my biggest complaint preparing for the exam under the older format; I bet I worked the problems in the NCEES book at least a dozen times. I found a few problems in textbooks that were actually prep for the FE, as well as a few decent problems in one or two Schaums Outlines. Looking...

Using the NCEES FE Reference Manual for the PE exam

    Wonder why it's not allowed?

Using the NCEES FE Reference Manual for the PE exam

I took parts of it to the exam; pretty sure I used it for the econ question(s) but don't recall if I did for anything else. I'd take it along, couldn't hurt.

Does Anyone Else Feel This Way?

I know exactly how you feel. When I took the exam for the first time last October, I was certain I failed. About three days before Christmas, my wife called me at the office to tell me the results had come in the mail and asked me if I wanted her to open the letter. I told her to go ahead...

    Exam Weekend & EB.com

Ditto. I hope those of you sitting for the PE this Friday are taking some time off work to relax. I took two days off before my exam last October and I thought that was a big help. I did some light studying that Wednesday and made sure I had everything ready to go, then played golf, had lunch...

How to carry in the reference materials?

I was going to have my butler carry them in, but it was his day off. Actually, I only took 6 books and never even opened the EERM. Still, I used one of my town's recycling crates, but wish I had used something on wheels. Had to stand in line while admission cards and calculators were checked...

The very best way to handle bathroom breaks?

Good advice. I recall taking a trip to the head near the mid-point of both sessions, just as much to rest and stretch a few minutes as heeding the call of nature. We were not in the most comfortable room in the world, and I have a hard time sitting for hours on end under the best of conditions...

    Snacks During the Test

I took Life Savers and Peanut Butter M&M's; figured if I was gonna flunk, I wasn't going to do it hungry. I would be careful about taking candy bars into the exam room; you might be accused of hiding answers inside the wrapper.

    Ethics?

All I did was print out the section from the FE handbook and put it with my bound notes. However, no such questions appeared on the electrical exam last October. Happy to report I won't be a repeat test-taker this Spring :)

    Tales of the Interview

Reminds me of an arrogant student I interviewed once. He came right out and told me he had several other offers and wouldn't accept less than $80K. He even asked me how much I made! Hope the jerk is flipping burgers right now.

    Getting ready for the PE

I also took and passed the FE before graduating, but by the time I took the electrical PE last October, 10 years had passed. Looking back, I would have to admit that the PE was not as difficult as the FE in terms of, for example, computational difficulty. However, the PE was much tougher on me...

    question about exam format

Ditto for electrical/power. Also, I recall a few questions where there was way more information given than was required to get the solution.
