I think the coconut crabs are cool. I've seen pictures of them hanging around on trash cans in tropcial locales. They're friggin' gigantic and look cool.
Yaah, there's one famous internet picture of a giant one on a trashcan in Kwajalein, I think (US missile test range in the Marshall Islands). I've never seen one anywhere near that large, but that may be because they're kind of over-hunted out here.
Here's the picture:
Looking at that, my guess is that the "trash can" is an Asian import and is smaller than what most Americans are used to - probably less than half the height of a typical cubrside can.
