Not sure if I want to go ahead and upgrade the phone or just attempt to put it back together. This time I went off on the phone, so I'm not sure if everything else is still ok or if it's only the screen/LCD that needs to be replaced.

If I upgrade, it will either be the HTC One or Samsung Galaxy...

I'd have the same concerns. Sounds like it is time for an upgrade. Both phones you mentioned are the current flagship phones IMO. The only reason I didn't go with the HTC One was because Verizon didn't offer it. Very happy with the GS4 though. It would have been difficult to choose between them.

Went with the GS4. It allowed me to use my microSD card which already had most of my pictures and music loaded to it.

Nice! Good choice. If you like reading about tips and tricks, let me know as there are some cool tweaks you can do to the GS4 (w/o jail-breaking it). Some cool cheap accessories on Amazon too that we picked up.

I'm still trying to get everything setup (mostly just email, contacts, and basic settings), but I am always down for more info on shortcuts and tricks.
