we keep going back and forth about cutting but its only $50/month.......what would take discipline is axing the cell phones, jesus that bill is getting fucking crazy.......

Local service, geeze, ya city slickers! Usually have to pay for any sort of TV service in these parts if you don't want RAT net...

Glad I'm getting the trees cleared, after the fence goes in, I'm putting in two towers. Maybe I can try a TV antenna up there and grab a few channels from Anchorage.

Actually, the hell with that, I'm happy not having TV service. Don't have to think about what I "missed" in the showings.

That's why I don't think we'd miss it...we don't really have any shows that we watch except a few home improvement and car shows that I'm pretty sure we could get via download. But if they weren't just on all the time when we turned the tv on, I doubt that we would go look them up...

Sometimes its really nice to not have TV service. Can actually get work done around the house and there's no worry to get things done by a certain time to catch a particular show.

The only downside is when the office is having a discussion concerning a show; I'm the odd duck. Guess I'm just inept that way, I'm sure my review will reflect it too, LOL...

Only thing I really miss about having cable was the DVR and sports. I used to DVR most sporting events I wanted to watch and would start watching about an hour or so after the initial start. That way I could fast-forward through commercials/boring stuff and be caught-up by the actual end so I wouldn't worry about "spoilers".

^ That makes sense and could be worth it if there was something worth watching.

I catch a few shows on netflix or amazon where I can watch a whole season nearly at the same time instead of waiting a week or so to catch the next one. Works well enough for me.

Only real issue I have with Netflix is that Mrs Dex is a horrible "binge watcher". She cannot/will not do ANYTHING until she has seen every episode. She will take her Nook up to the bedroom for hours straight and do nothing but watch one show. Getting through Dr Who was horrible. And of course, just as she finishes one show Netflix recommends another that piques her interest.

Sometimes I binge with a specific show, really depends on what it is and what the weather is like outside. Usually I'm good with one or two at a time, not whole f'n marathons

we watched true detective that way, but I don't know if we would watch a show that had multiple seasons with cliff hangers at the end.

It's not so bad when it's a show I like because we'll sit down for a couple episodes, then shut it off to do something else. If it's just her show, kiss her goodbye until the series is over...

So you don't even get the local news? Like those are the channels I'm talking about. It's not a local service. It's broadcast TV. LOL

Good lord, Dr. Who? That show was pretty long. LadyFox started watching it but only sparingly. Got to like season 4 or whatever and got bored with. Seen a few of the "doctors" though at various Comicons.

She owns the box-set for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Once in a while she'll bust that out to completely kill a weekend.
