PE or P.E. in Signature Line

So should it be:

FirstName LastName, PE

or

FirstName LastName, P.E.

What's the consensus?

I've contacted NCEES about this in the past and either method is acceptable. NCEES also noted that P.E. is a bit older than the more recent use of PE.

I like PE, but our business cards say P.E. so my signature says that as well. So P.E. is usually what I stick with.
