Oh, one qualifier though @JayKay PE: I double majored in English AND French for my BA degree (long before I became an engineer). So, that explains how I picked up French, plus I lived there since I couldn't find a job here at the time.
So you cheated (ha ha ha).  I get it.  I majored in engineering but had minors in chemistry and studio art (metal sculpture), but my roommates were both Russian majors and would usually talk to each other when I walked in.  I just think it's really interesting to say something in a different language, which sounds so weird, but have it actually mean something!  AND YOU LIVED IN FRANCE WHICH IS SO COOL.

Holy crap, how did you find the time to pick up 2 minors? Sheesh!

Also, I think Russian sounds super cool. Like, when spoken at an appropriate pace and clarity, it's so "smart" sounding. There's a reason the Soyuz rocket is still in use, crazy Russian engineers...

To register for a class as a non-degree seeking student, I have to print out a form, fill it out, and then drop it off in person, fax it, or email it... Maine is quaint sometimes lol
My cousin just moved to Portland! I super want to visit. Maybe next year (only at the new gig for 6 months, no vacay yet...).

I missed a class for the engineering major, so I had to stay another year.  I crammed in another 30-credits for my hubris.  I was one class off for having a double major in chemistry (organic chemistry-lab specialized) and I didn't want to stay another semester for one more class.  I also worked part-time around 36-hours a week at the bank.  I have no idea how I did this.

And the girls sounded amazing.  Supposedly a big thing is Russian is that reading isn't big/or it is only really big in the main cities, but once you leave there is a lot of illiteracy which is why the language skills are a huge thing.

It's really expensive. And it's an interesting dynamic here: greater Portland vs the rest of Maine. Our last governor HATED southern Maine
I was trying to convince my husband to buy a summer home in Maine but he’s not interested.

I went to a great lobster place in Two Lights right on the coast. The people were really nice in Maine and in Vermont.
