her country of origin at 35
I hear ya, I learned "kitchen" Cantonese at home (couldn't discuss advanced topics like science or politics, just food and pleasantries) but it wasn't until I took Cantonese 1 and 2 at the community college as an adult that I really learned how to express myself (still learning though, Chinese is flippin' hard!).

That's sooo cool you at least have a foundation in Italian. LadySquare is annoyed with her mom and grandmother who didn't teach her. We'll probably take Italian 1 in the Fall semester next year.

I speak Cantonese and French (I no longer say I'm fluent, but I WAS fluent up to 2009 when I lived there), speak passable German (took up to intermediate German at community college), can read/pronounce Croatian, Russian, and Greek, can read Persian (but I don't know what I'm reading, basically just mouthing the alphabet). If I'm being honest, I'm mostly just faking it all as a party trick, but I'm a pretty good parrot.

I vote to send @JayKay PE as ambassador to Ukraine.
Since I am Ukrainian, a little bit, it is not a bad position for me to be in.

Also, I def want to learn French.  The university near me offers online classes, and I want to ask them if I can take it without being a student/matriculating, since I don't want another degree?  I just want to attempt to learn French.  I've always wanted to learn another language and I think I might as well do it now rather than later and regret it.

Find yourself a nice French boy toy...in Indiana? :rotflmao:

I'm pretty certain you have mentioned this here before. I will need to try it the next time I'm under the weather.
My mom actually had it prescribed to her by one of her doctors, and it did work!  I think she took a tablespoon every once in a while because she had bronchitis/was coughing a lot.  Just make sure you get the cheap stuff with the drunk Polack!
