This is crazy. I applied in August and my application is still pending. I'm currently licensed in 7 states and none of them took this long. In fact, with Utah my license was issued the same day I applied.

My emails to the NJ board go unanswered. I did get one response a few months ago that simply said "it's in review."

I'm honestly going mad at this point, still no change
Same here, I was told "it's in final board review", which is pretty much the same thing I was told 2 months ago.

Ya, that is ridiculous. Best bet is to join the virtual meeting and make a comment, seems like the only way to get a response these days.

My processor wrote; still in review :( It is fatiguing how long some of these boards take - again especially with the NCEES record.
Agreed, should not take this long with a NCEES record. Meeting minutes from 11/2020 say they are working to "streamline the review process", guess that didn't work out.

Still waiting. One of my peers applied in October and received their license this week. Having submitted the beginning of September I'm becoming increasingly frustrated. This is holding up aspects of my career because of needing to apply for licensure in several states after NJ. At 5 months of waiting as of posting this.

For anyone applying for initial licensure, you can request NCEES to allow you to apply to another state while your first one is pending.

Still no updates either. Have you called or emailed, and if so do they just tell you "its in review"?

Thank you for this information.
So if you got promission from NCEES and applying for other state. Will that be Inital in other state or Omity?

Filled application Jan 07, 2023
Nothing updated/checked. I think my application is not even on the list yet.
And NCEES does not allow me to have another Initial License. So I believe I need to wait 5 months to get my initial in NJ and then comity to other states.

..and I finally received it! Thank you everyone for your moral support, advice and hearing me out!
Damn, I just submitted everything last Wednesday. I guess I'm in for a few months of waiting huh?
I was told by my boss we'll discuss my pay increase when the license comes in, so NJ is literally going to cost me money lol

Congrats! Glad the wait is finally over.

If everything on your checklist is still unchecked, I would contact your processor. My checklist, except board review, was checked within a week of submitting my application.

From the posts on this thread, the wait times seem to be anywhere between 3-6 months. Very random how they do these reviews. Good luck.

I reached out to my reviewer and was told:

"At the moment we are in a backlog in reviewing applications, so I cannot give you an estimated timeframe. The Board Members are doing their best to catch up."

Typical NJ

Got the same reply

Was submitting a comment to the board and got the following response:

There are several factors that are affecting application review timelines. Each application is adjudicated based upon its individual merits versus what is mandated by state regulation. Furthermore, the board is currently undergoing some transitioning. This may negatively impact application review temporarily. The board is working to address the issue and streamline the application review process.

As such I am unable to provide you a timeline. Rest assured the board and staff are working diligently to get all applications reviewed on a timely basis. “
