There's no sneaking anywhere on an IFR flight plan. Both my wife and my boss use flightaware to keep track of me when I'm traveling. I had to divert to an alternate airport last year due to weather. My cell phone rings 5 minutes after I land with my boss asking me what I was doing in La Crosse Wisconsin.

You can request that your aircraft no longer be available for tracking by flightaware.

The reason I know this is because you can no longer track our (Mississippi State) university aircraft. During a coaching search, that is the single greatest source of speculation available. But, they put an end to it. I think most universities are following suit.

I know we (MSU) use N404MS, and Alabama uses N1UA. Both are blocked on Flightaware.
