By far the easiest way to obtain a professional engineer license is to be licensed by a Canadian province. All long as your engineering curriculum is from an accredited university, the only exam you have to take is a four hour law and ethics exam that is given by each province and when you pass it you get a certificate and a stamp. Why take a grueling engineering exam in your field? If you don't take it quite soon after graduation, chances are you won't pass since much of what you learned is lost if you don't use it regularly. Also some engineering fields are not covered by a PE exam in the U.S. The catch is you have to be living in a Canadian province when you take the exam but if you move out of Canada you can renew your license each year indefinitely.
