Understood. In the past, we weren't censored with language, and I personally prefer that. This is a place to let off some steam. As long as people are respectful with each other, then I don't think most of us have a problem with cursing (I certainly don't).

I get it. I have forums I go curse on. The filter is more about the technical content than anything else, but there's no way to restrict on a sub-forum basis so it applies to all.

Let me see what I can do though. Like I said, I would like to revisit, but I do hear what you're all saying.

As a long-time member, I can safely say this board is to goof off with technical info mixed in. If you want to restore the boards in good faith, you'll have to trust our request to honor its culture.

Like you're tapping and boiling? I've always wanted to do that. Hard work, but just being out there seems pretty great. I had family in upstate New York that did it. I never got to go visit but my grandmother would show us pictures.

yeah, tapping and boiling. I wouldn't call it hard work (if you have kids engaged in it) but it is time consuming. The way we do it is stupid expensive with propane burners and a big stainless pan I made but it's a lot of fun for the kids and I have a reason to sit in the shop with a beverage when boiling. The product at the end is outstanding vs. buying at the store... the extended family like receiving the maple syrup at the end also.

I keep debating on making a reverse osmosis system to concentrate the sap before boiling but just haven't gotten around to it yet. It's a bit of an engineering problem to solve trying to set things up to minimize heat loss from the burners and maintain the boil.

We have 41 taps this year and collected about 5 gallons of sap yesterday so maybe it will pick up. Just a few trees were producing. The kids run through the woods to collect everyday after school. I may boils some tonight.
