Everybody's heard at least one by now. What've you heard. We all know they are false, but it will be fun to discuss them and kill time while we wait for the real results.
Here's mine: If you look back over the last decade, the results waiting time has decreased. It has decreased by approximately 30 days (average and estimated... because the numbers change for each state obviously) during that time. So theoretically, the rate of reduction of wait time is equal to approximately 3 days per year. So, last year the wait time for my state was 42 days (I think), therefore this time, I can expect the wait time to be 39 days.
Ha! That's funny. Now here's the truth: The wait time was in fact about 30 days longer a decade ago and consistently was about 30 days longer up until about 4 to 5 years ago. At some point about 5 years ago, something occurred within NCEES or the state agencies which caused a sudden change in wait times, resulting in waiting duration being reduced by about 30 days. That new duration has now remained fairly consistent for the last 4-5 years. So, no, you should not anticipate the results approximately 3 days earlier.
Okay, what have you heard.
