I also love when somebody calls you from 2 cubes away to ask you to come over to look at something. Not quite as annoying as the email thing but when I can hear you talking over the phone and with my free ear at the same time, couldn't you have just skipped the phone?

catch-22 here. I get annoyed when someone bellows to someone else 2-3 cubes away, too. E-mail or get up off your ass and go see them. Don't sit at your desk and holla at 'im.

I prefer the Swingline, but he keeps taking it, but I told him if he takes it again I will light a fire and burn this place down, and I haven't gotten my paycheck this week.

Annoying guy here at work will email his wife who works in the other building, then immediately call her to tell her he sent her an email. He does the same thing with the phones. If he calls her desk phone and she doesn't answer he leaves a message then proceed to call her cell phone to say he left her a massage on her deak phone and vise versa.

There is a difference when people do not respond and you have to follow up, but I am talking about the people who send you an email diatribe, and then 4 minutes later come ask you about it!!!!!
A guy I work with does this, but he doesn't even wait four minutes. He sits send and then walks over and asks, before I've even gotten the damn thing.

Same guy does this too.

Anybody we know?

My wife and I use gchat at work now. The annoying girl ar work listens in on all of our conversaitions even if I close my door so we can't talk about anything personal any more unless I walk out of the office. Gchat is much easier.

Sometimes you can't avoid listening, especially in cube land. There's a gal in my office who sits on the other side of the cube wall from me. Everyday, for what seems like several hours a day, she is orchestrating her family household - breaking up arguments between her kids, answering questions, giving them tasks to do around the house, etc. Here is a sample episode (one sided since I can only hear what she's saying)

Mom: "Johnny, I can't answer that question for you right now, I've got someone at my desk and we're working"

Pause

Mom: "I told you, I can't answer that question for you right now, I'll call you when I leave work"

Pause

Mom: "I can't answer that question for you right now, I'll call you when I leave work"

Pause

Mom: "I can't answer that question for you right now, I'll call you when I leave work"

Pause

Mom: "I can't answer that question for you right now, I'll call you when I leave work"

Pause

Mom: "I can't answer that question for you right now, I'll call you when I leave work"

Pause

Mom: "Where are you? Where's your dad?"

Pause

Mom: "Well if you're with your dad, have him give you the answer!"

Pause

Mom: "I can't answer that question for you right now, I'll call you when I leave work"

This conversation, or one sort of like it, happens regularly (people working with her at her desk on something when her kids call) and her kids can't seem to understand that sometimes, their mom is busy at work and can't talk to them right away. I don't understand how she gets any work done.

sounds "P" Whipped to me :whipping:
dunno... sounds like he's the controlling type

I do this to my boss as he falls in the ignorant category. He will demand something "right away" and will never acknowledge that he has recived it. This is important coz few hours later he will walk to my office and ask for the same thing!! Somehow he has a habit of ignoring email from us and needs to be reminded that we have emailed him somehing important or something that he demanded to be sent.

A routine and an annoying example of this.. we (team members) will send a vacation schedule (as a meeting request in Outlook so that once you accept it you can see it in your calendar) to him so that he doesn't have to remember who is out and when. Not only do we send this several weeks in advance but we have to remind him the evening before out scheduled holiday and still get the crap that "oh really, for how long are you gone? are you really gone for a week? what will happen to the projects?"

Sometimes (well a lot) I do this to the clients(internal or external) when I send something and want to make sure that they have received it. Strangely the email filter system sometimes decided to not deliver some messages (at least that is a favorite excuse). Now what annoys is that some people have "Request Read Receipt" ON for every message (replies, forwards).

Sorry for the rant.

I have to admit I do that with the cute girl that sits about 3 cubes away...... but for altogether different reasons :eyebrows:
Awesome!!! :D

I hate when someone calls during lunchtime and is surprised I am answering the phone... "Gee, I thought you'd be at lunch?"... Didn't really want to have to talk to me, did you?
So, you didn't like it when I called you last week??

Same guy does this too.
I have started to hear some of this now that I am no longer in 'new guy' territory ..

Anybody we know?
Ha! We are on different floors ... though, I have been told my voice carries even when I try to keep it on the low! :p

Sucks being in the cube farm downstairs, doesn't it? I love my office with four walls, a door and a window!

What's a cube farm? Been in an office since I got hired here (5 years ago).
It is nice, isn't it? Got my own window, my own door, lots of space. really is quite nice.

Oh. I can open the window, too. I don't miss the ole 6X6 cubes at all.
