OK, I know if there is delta-delta, there is no phase shift from V_ll from primary side to secondary side, generally. But where does dot convention come in? for example if primary side of a delta-delta has dot at top on primary side and dot at bottom of secondary side, does this knock the fact that " there is no phase shift from V_ll from primary side to V_ll secondary side" out of fact now? This is confusing, can anyone clear it up?

My understanding to phase shift is that it results when you go from different configuration of transformer Y to delta or vice versa. phase shift has nothing to do with dot convention. Dots will play role in Mutual inductance and the flux between the windings.
