Good question!! They didn't exactly specify the year; probably shouldn't assum they meant this year. I'll call them back to get clarification and get back to you all ASAP! I know everyone's on pins & needles right now.

It's a Calendar, it cannot run out. It was simply that their largest measurement of time the "baktun" reached a full cycle (approx 400 years) and it was the start of a new one. It was the 12th one and it finished and thus began the 13th baktun.
