Thermal and Fluids problem 522

Hello,

Im reviewing the thermal and fluids section for the pm portion of the exam and came accross this turbofan question problem 522, Im confused as to how they modeled this turbofan, are both the fan and compressor considered isentropic steady flow for ideal gases? Also, does anyone have a reference that contains the turbofan as an example?
