so my wife and I explained to our 6 y/o daughter that the doctors are going to remove the dogs leg so he'll feel better. She offered to "go get the knife." :huh:

So we had to further explain.

Then she asked if they'll put the leg back after they remove the cancer.

after more explaining and a little Q/A, my wife showed her some youtube videos of three legged dogs playing.

this just made me feel guilty about what I was going to say

My daughter then drew a picture of the leg with cancer and sat down in front of the dog and explained the whole thing to him.
