If you do most of the following, I consider you fitness-obsessed:

- post workouts longer than 1 hr or runs longer than 5 mile to Facebook, frequently

- skip out on social events rather than miss 1 workout, and tell everyone about it

- tell everyone how guilty you are about not working out if you miss a workout

- say something like "I can't eat this donut, I'd have to run for an extra hour to work it off" even though you've never had a weight problem

- sacrifice adequate sleep for exercise, and tell everyone about it

You don't seem annoying enough to be fitness-obsessed.

Come to think of it, I just hit 1 year of doing P90x. Nice! Love the morning workouts. Wakes me up much better than caffeine. ;)

I was thinking the same thing...

Does it work well? I guess I'm curious to know if you lost weight (if you needed to in the first place) or what? I'm thinking of investing in P90x and making a gym in my basement, I've got a spare TV I can put down there and do my workouts.

Dex might chime in here too as he has done these before as well. But I really enjoy the workouts along with the pace and "go at your own level" attitude throughout the program. It works if you stick to the prescribed schedule. And it helps to change your diet up to supplement the workouts too. For quite awhile I was going to the gym after work each day but that took a good chunk out of my evenings to be able to accomplish anything else I might need to do. Eventually as certain things became more busy for me, I just couldn't swing getting to the gym so I had to stop going. I gained a bit of weight during my hiatus but started doing research on what I could try and do for home workouts (I was running here and there but that didn't seem to do much). And then I found P90x. I was instantly hooked as it was right at my desired intensity level. I was at about 190lbs when I started and at the end of the 90 days, I was back to my ideal weight of 155-158lbs. So it clearly produced results but I stayed dedicated to the program never missing a workout. If I had to travel for work, I brought a laptop and the workout disks with me to do in the hotel. I really like being able to go into my basement to work out as opposed to the gym. I can wake up early, do the workout, use my own shower afterwards, and be on my way to work. Then my evenings are open for schoolwork or whatever else. After completing the program, I took some time off as recommended. But then I created my own condensed "maintenance" workout because some of the exercises can be an hour or longer. I now do 2 days of cardio and 3 days of strength training at 45 min. each plus 4 sets of abs. And it works really well. I should also note that 2 weeks or so into the program, LadyFox decided to join me and went through the program as well.

You may want to read through this as there was some discussion on the topic awhile back: http://engineerboards.com/index.php?showtopic=9745

PM me if you want anymore specifics or have questions.

just a side note, if you don't have that inital self motivation, don't waste your money... me personally, I don't think the P90X worked more for the fact that to start out, I succeeded in a group setting because I didn't want to let my Mama Chicken down... now I can work out on my own, but back when I was first trying to get off the blood pressure meds, it was an emotional train wreck 5 min into anything I did...

I do want to say, while many of us on here are considerably fitness-obsessed, we are not "skinny obsessed" we can eat that doughnut BECAUSE we burn the calories, we don't burn the calories because we ate the doughnut...

I can eat the donut because I want to. What's this gym/fitness thing everyone is talking about?

Well after performing at my all time worst on the PT test this past weekend, I figure I need to actually work out in order to stay fit, gone are the days of just rolling out of bed after a night of drinking and getting a max score, I'm not a spring chicken anymore.

A side note on EG's side note. You can find a number of the P90x workouts on YouTube if you want to see how they are before buying the official package with workout guide and recommended meal book.

Same here. Donuts make me happy so I eat them.
And I still weigh the same 145lbs as I did back when I graduated highschool 15 years ago.
I graduated high school 10 yrs ago, weighed 130 lbs, still weigh that much today. I have a pair of jeans that I bought in 8th grade and they still fit me today. I thank my parents for the good genes they passed down to me.

I want jeans that still fit from high school.

Wait...mine do, but it has everything to do with wearing my clothes way too big back then.

I think I've pretty much cycled back to the same size I was just after high school so if the current trends continue then perhaps I'll get there by my 20th reunion (since progress is slowing down significantly) I'm just happy to be off the blood pressure medication, that was my wake up call on my 30th birthday
