It really isn't difficult.
Get:
turkey the right size for your family/guests (room temp is best, but at least defrosted)
quality thick-cut bacon (hickory or applewood smoked, none of that cheap pre-packaged crap)
sea salt
fresh-ground black pepper
olive oil.
stick of salted butter (not margarine) - optional
I have no idea on the proportions.
Fill a small bowl with enough oil to sufficiently coat the turkey. Mix in salt and pepper (you need to put more in than you think, most of it comes off when it's carved). Using your hand, separate the skin from the turkey, but do not remove it. Fill this void with the oil mixture. Put the stick of butter inside the cavity.
On a large cutting board/cookie sheet, weave your bacon into a large square like this:
drape the bacon over the top of the turkey. wrap the legs and wings with additional loose pieces of bacon.
Put the entire thing into a roaster pan. Tent with aluminum foil. Figure out the temp/time to cook the turkey for the weight you purchased. Remove the tent with about 30 minutes remaining to allow everything to brown/crisp.
