Hey all,

Studying for long hours at a time can get pretty boring. I was studying upwards of 8 hours a day (I quit my job to take this exam) and I did not do all 8 in a row. I broke it up with trips to the kitchen or to go out and get some exercise at the gym.

I also watched films while I studied. I recommend either movies that you've seen hundreds of times and still like (so you don't have to focus on it much) and tv shows like Dr. Katz that are really low-intensity.

The internet is a pleasant diversion but can quickly become to time consuming and distracting. That's why this forum is so good. I could go here and actually learn valuable lessons while taking a break from studying :)

Anyone else got a favorite study aid? Did I duplicate threads (sorry for not searching ...)

I studied for my FE (April 08) with music - bought a Sirius satellite radio - and studied to music, just like I did in college 30+ years ago. I passed the FE first time - now I'm trying to study for the PE -signed up for October - I only have two months to go, haven't started much yet - so I should get off this board! time to get to studying, see ya! :p10940623:

Dude, 8 hrs a day is hard core! I'm unemployed, studying for the FE, and can't do much more than 3 - 4 hrs a day tops (weekdays only). With olympics on recently, i found women's volleyball to be a good study aid. . . wait, actually it wasn't.

I need pretty good isolation for focusing on studying, so my study aid is peace & quiet w/ no distractions. Maybe some classical music - that helped in college on occasion.

I remember taking a fluid mechanics test in college, and this dude in front of me has his ipod playing inadvertently in a pocket of his backpack - and its this cheesy top 40 classic rock crap sounding all tinny out of his earbuds. it totally was pissing me off so i finally say really loud "dude! can you shut your ipod off!?" He turns around all red-faced, fumbling for his ipod, saying "i thought that music was coming from outside" - peace & quiet followed

Football isn't helping much right now...I worked some problems before the Texas Tech game started, though.

quitting your job to study for the test is hard core.

Hopefully there were other reasons for leaving the position?

Good luck on the test, and the new job search.

I took my caffeine addiction to a whole new level while I was studying.... Does that count as a study aid?

Didn't quit my job, though.

^ While I was studying for the PE exam was about the only time I've drank caffeine on a regular basis. I hate the way that stuff makes me feel but had to stay up late to study.

It was immediately back to herbal tea for me after that.
