Congrats to each of you that passed. To those of you that did pass, how many were 1st time takers? To those of you who have taken it multiple times and passed this time, what did you do differently?? Any advice for those of us who failed would be much appreciated. Thanks for your help and good luck with your PE. Maybe you'll get that raise that you were expecting.

I am a Civil Eng and actually do more Chem Eng than Civil. Just by taking the PE I got a $15K/year raise(starting Jan 1)because my company thought that I was going to leave once I passed. If you don't get a promotion, there is a company out there that will pay you what you're worth. SET THE BAR HIGH!!!, you deserve it.

jd,

I've failed it twice already, and am hoping it won't be a 3rd time once the results roll in for me. My advice is, just come back at it. I took it the first two times without studying, and I feel that I did not deserve to pass. I did try to get ready for it this past time, and I hope it was enough. If it wasn't, I'll try that much harder for April.

To follow your own advise, just set that bar higher, and you'll nail it.

Sign me up, and I'm still waiting for FE results.

Dvinny,

If you fail it three times in WV, can you take it again in April? In NC, I can't until next October, and that's only after I prove that I deserve to be able to enjoy that event again, I have to take some kind of class, and update my application.

:suicide:

I passed on my 3rd try of the SE1 exam. After failing it my first time a co-worker gave me a quote to live by.

"Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm." -Sir Winston Churchill

I have still this next to my Minnesota License to remind me that anything is possible. :true:

To everyone who needs a pick-me-up these days, if you keep trying you will pass.

I studied for the test in April and felt pretty confident coming out of the test but did not pass. In October I studied even more and came out of the test feeling like I didn't know squat. :wait to see if I passed in October.

First time, I ran out of time (although I was watching the clock) and failed by 2 points - after simply quick marking maybe 3-6 answers for questions I could have answered if I had skipped those on subjects with which I was less familiar. WATCH THE TIME.

Passed second time, working as quickly as possible and mostly skipping questions which would require too much time (I do not do certain kinds of design and marked an answer on those after reading the question and deciding it wasn't worth wasting time trying.) I finished 30-60 minutes early a.m. and p.m.

"the other board"'s structural book was a good exam reference, and a decent guide on what to study. Tab your references early, and use these copies so you learn where to find things. Don't do a bunch of tabbing/flagging of pages right before the exam, or you won't be familiar enough with what is what.

Pay attention to what your doing with units.
