So, I'm pregnant. And, believe me, this was NOT planned! In fact, this is the 2nd time I've gotten pregnant while on birth control... yeah, I'm the statistical anomoly.

Anyway, I'll be 14 weeks for the October exam. I REALLY hope the morning sickness is gone by then, or I may as well throw in the towel right now! But, my due date is 2 weeks after the April exam, so there is NO WAY I'll be taking that one, even if I don't pass in October.

Well, I'm off to study... and then go to bed early cuz this pregnancy is really kicking me in the ass as far as fatigue goes. I don't remember being this tired for my 1st... oh well.

great advice VTE. :brickwall:

It won't be easy, but i'm pretty sure it's been done.

Are you allowed barf bags at your testing facility, or do they need to be attached to a binder?

You can do it! Just consider it greater motivation than most of us have - you either do it now, or you have to go through it all again, and it will be at least another year before you can.

I seem to remember that you can request "special accommodations" - maybe you could get NCEES (or ELSES or whoever it is) to grant you some extra time to take the exam, in case you have to be away from your desk for periods of time due to "morning" sickness...

VT, I sincerely hope you were kidding with your response. Otherwise, that is a fucked up response. I’m all for a woman’s right to choose, but the PE is NO reason to abort a pregnancy.

Pregnant???How did that happen?!!!!! :joke:

I can only advice you not to quit. It is not going to be easy but you can do it. When you pass all this pregnancy worries will only add to the flavor. Stay on the course and say, now with more resolution than ever... :bio:

Good Luck TX.

^ that's pretty much my plan... I really can't afford to fail this, even more than most people can't afford to fail it :) No matter what happens, it'll be interesting :) Thanks for all the support!

From now on it is forbidden to think or say the word "fail" That is not an option.

TX, be blessed with what you have. Some couples have a much harder time getting pregnant.

Also, keep plugging away on the exam. One of my co-workers was big as a house and she took last October's exam. Oh yeah, she passed!!

Morning sickness or not, you can do it!!

TX,

Good luck and failure is not an option! Congrats on the little one... my wife is due with twins in January and is already the size she was with our first at 8 months.

See if the NCEES can give you a special accomodation. I know in my testing center it was one person to the bathroom at a time... then they would go and search the bathroom to make sure you didn't leave a note or something. Maybe they could offer you an escort to the bathroom in lieu of waiting for the room to be cleared?

You can do it!!!!

Bad timing, but I think by this time it is too late to cancel. You don't need to make up your mind now. Study up to the exam, and if you are able, give it a try. You can always leave halfway through if you can't do it. And like someone said, they might give you special accomodations.

Well Congratulations TX, even if it wasn't planned. As hard as it will be to study when sick -- it'll be harder with 2 kids running around so best of luck getting through it. Hopefully the tiredness will pass and you won't get too sick!!

Congrats TxEngrChick !!!

I have read your other posts and IMHO deciding to put off taking the exam is NOT an option. You sound like you have already put in A LOT of work towards taking this exam and are coming along nicely  If anything, a pregnancy will just add a few more challenges for staying focused :)

Note: Whitley85 took the exam when she was eight months pregnant (if I recall correctly).

Keep up the good work and congratulations once again! :multiplespotting: :multiplespotting:

Oh, I WILL take the exam, with or without a barf bag! I already feel bad for my table-mate :) I hadn't even thought about the bathroom thing... even on a good day (when I'm not sick) I gotta go every 2 hours or so :( I'll have to call the testing board and find out what I can do. Worst case, there's always Depends!

Only every two hours? With my wife it is like every two minutes!

Good luck and nail this test in October!

1st off congrats!

I would be curious how your state or ncees would deal with "extra potty breaks" I know we always got the "evil eye" everytime we went to the bathroom.

It will be far easier to study with the baby inside your stomach versus crying in the crib and keeping you up all night.

Congratulations, TXengrChick ! You can do it, that should be a good motivation to nail this exam. :)

Congradulations TxEngrChick; You should be fine come test time. Are you taking it in Houston?

Freon, Father of Four

P.S. I guess we will have to wait a bit longer for those "lawn mowing photos".

Ditto on that one. The second time for me to take it, my daughter was 8 months old and up every night. No study time. (first time, my wife was preg, and made sure that I got no sleep.)

The time I passed, I took extra time off, and stayed in the test city. I relaxed without studying and passed. Nerves killed me more than anything else the other times.

Yes, I'm in Houston. And the lawn mowing photos are for my husband's eyes only (his rule, not mine).

Congratulations!! I hope everything goes well for you and the baby and the studying. It sounds like you're already well prepared and you still have time left. I never took an exam (combined 6 for EIT and PE) when I was pregnant, but did it with litlle ones. You will hopefully be feeling well by the exam date so you can NAIL IT!!!! Get it done this time. That will be a story to tell the baby, that he/she sat for the PE exam. Great news, even if the timing is a challenge and the plan is not as expected. Make it work. We're cheering for both of you.
