What is the correct suffix to attach at the end of your name?

Is it John Smith, PE or John Smith, P.E.

ncees uses P.E. for whatever that's worth.

Members of the 2011–12 Board of Directors are as follows:

President: Dale Jans, P.E. (South Dakota)

President-Elect: Gene Dinkins, P.E., P.L.S. (South Carolina)

Immediate Past President: Joe Timms, P.E. (West Virginia)

Treasurer: David Widmer, P.L.S. (Pennsylvania)

Central Zone Vice President: Nancy Gavlin, P.E., S.E. (Illinois)

Northeast Zone Vice President: Howard (Skip) Harclerode, P.E. (Maryland)

Southern Zone Vice President: Theodore (Ted) Sack, P.L.S. (Oklahoma)

Western Zone Vice President: Patty Mamola, P.E. (Nevada)

I'm going to use P.E. as the NCESS does.

Although I wish the US would adopt the use of P.Eng. or PEng something of that nature.

great question. i believe my company does PE in the signature on emails but as was pointed out above, if NCEES uses P.E. its good enough for me!
