MYRTLE BEACH — A 43-year-old man told Myrtle Beach police that a man pushed him off the mo-ped he was riding along Yaupon Drive and then beat him with the victim’s prosthetic leg, according to a police report.
Joel Parrish, 35, of Myrtle Beach was taken into custody about 7:30 a.m. Monday and charged with second-degree assault and battery in connection with the incident that occurred about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.
Parrish is being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail pending a bond hearing.The victim told officers that he was riding his mo-ped when Parrish pushed him off, which caused his prosthetic leg to come off, police said.
The victim was able to identify Parrish and officers sought a warrant for his arrest.The victim said while he was on the ground, the suspect kicked and punched him several times before he picked up the victim’s prosthetic leg and hit him with it, according to the report. The victim said the suspect had another man with him and that person held him down during the assault.
The victim suffered injuries to his head and required several stitches while being treated at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, according to the report.
