I was on this tour in Austria a few years ago. It was me, the Austrian guide, a couple from Brazil, and a couple from UAE. it was February, in the Alps, snow everywhere.

The guide and I had to explain snow and winter to them. They had never seen it before and had no idea how to walk in it. I also had to explain why to avoid yellow snow. Sort of awkward...

Also, because I have become more comfortable at work, my accent is slipping in a little (loosening that hold on the work-speak accent).

I got made fun of for how I saw drawer.  😥
At least you have something identifiable. I sound like...nothing at all.

Edit: Ooh! Unintended ToP! :bananalama:

Are they giving you hell for pronouncing "coffee" correctly?
I don't drink coffee in the office, but I have been given severe side-eye from counter staff when I ordered a cup the other day.  They tried to 'fix' how I pronounce it and it just didn't work.  They also tried to teach me how to say 'Hoosier', but something about my accent causes severe dipthong and it does not come out right.

Work accent = almost nothing identifiable except for water and coffee, tbh (wah-tah and caw-fee).  But when I start relaxing and getting comfortable with my surroundings, my accent comes out a little.  When I talk to native NY/LIers and/or am drunk...accent comes out a lot.
