thats about half of what I did

edit topps :bananalama:
I mean she told me to leave early last time but by the time she had seen my text amd responded, it wasnt worth it. I had composed myself and whatnot

Man, I'm getting flashbacks to the thankful sheer elation of finding out I passed. Wheeeee.

A friend took it for the 3rd (4th?) time this Oct. And then got his work laptop stolen the day after. I hope he passes. Gotta keep the universe in balance +/- here...

@leggo PE this boss is my first boss. She sits next to me, we're FB friends, and text a bunch. The bosses above her, I wouldn't text. If I hadn't relocated to this office, I'd probably just suffer in silence and be bursting to know. But my new office is rather lax and she's pretty laidback. She 100% needs to be firmer with our group tho.

Second time around I had the full support of my office and line management. They knew I was on the edge of being a total basket case. I told my boss that when the results come in, if it was bad, I would just sent him a note saying that I was going home for the rest of the day and that I'd be back in the office whenever I was back in the office. followed it with that I'd do the appropriate paperwork later. It was the end of the year and I was getting close to a couple weeks of use/lose time anyway. He was fine with it.

It  didn't matter because I passed.

I'd spent about two weeks F5ing the site. So I was "ready" with seeing a red or green box at any random moment. Of course that's not how it came. I had to use the bathroom, so I hit f5 one last time, nothing, so I left the office and locked the door. 15 seconds later the email arrives. Ah well. I just finish the task before me, and then spend a minute to mentally prep myself. Walk back, unlock the door and close it behind me. Sit in my chair, prepare myself, and hit F5 one last time.

I can't emphasize this next part enough. The building I used to work in was designed to survive a direct hit from a nuke and still remain operational during the ensuring war. The walls are thick enough to take that energy and they're also meant to be soundproof to keep secret conversations secret.

People down the hall heard me scream "yes!". People on conference calls with those people heard it too..

I wish I had a better source for you...but google.  The song "Crown" by Jay-Z resonates with me. This image kinda speaks to how I see myself...especially as it pertains to that song.
A-ha! That explains how I could have seen it before, but have no recollection of it. 😁 Thank you.

This might be the best thing I've read today. Top 5, for sure.

My situation was very similar, minus the nuke-proof building. LadySquare and I had a lot riding on me getting the PE and qualifying for the higher-paying government job I was eyeballing. After taking and failing the exams more times than I have the courage to admit to you crazy spammers (4+) over the course of 2.5 years, combined with the somewhat roundabout way I got into the engineering profession in the first place, I was really beginning to question whether I was even capable of staying in this profession at all. Not a good mental state.

After F5ing for weeks and pretty much being despondent at home and at work, I pretty much started gearing up to start studying again and seriously considering quitting instead. Anyway, I was working on a project, refreshed the screen, nothing. Took a bathroom break and felt my phone buzz with an email. Crap (no pun intended), THAT email. Shuffled back to my desk (in the cube pods I complained about here on EB), logged in again, and saw that glorious Kelly green rectangle. I silently fist-pumped the air, walked quietly outside to the parking lot, and let out a "Whoo!" à la Ric Flair. Called LadySquare who immediately started crying, and went back to the cube pod to share the news and high five my neighbors.

Aaaaanyway, now that I have the government job, there's a LOT less pressure to pass the second PE exam in a different discipline (sorry, I don't really intend to keep mentioning it, it just comes up), but I think I would be *just* as excited to pass (whether this "first" time or second or third) because I basically had to teach myself Civil Engineering from the ground up. So, it has been a fun challenge and if I *do* get that second PE it ends up turning into real money (our union rules allow a 5% differential for dual-licensed engineers, provided both licenses are related to my job position). Point is, love EB and you crazy spammers for providing a great distraction. Keep it coming, and best of luck!

@squaretaper PE, where are you at around Sacramento? I was there for a couple years and am familiar with the area.
Neato! Where? When? Why?

We live in northern Sacramento, in a rural area. But I work in south Sacramento so the commute blows. Buuuut, I'm a transplant from the Bay Area so I try not to complain too much.
