Oh man.  What would they think of the page count of the spam thread?
Mind would be blown.

I mean like the pages page like #60 or so are garbage but there's a lot of info in the earlier pages. And they won't go thru it.

I can't deal.  Do the effing work yourself.

I think if you have an engineering degree from an accredited university, you should at least be able to call yourself an engineer.

My brother in law works in IT (no degree) and tries to call himself an "IT engineer".  I tell him, "No you're not."
Some states, OR, AZ, TX (I think) and NY disagree.

We removed it from our cards/signatures due to like 3 states. So to signify we're engineers, we can put EIT or BSEE/MSEE. I think the BSEE/MSEE is weird

Yes, especially when you consort with traitors.
I have no idea what you're talking about, but I'll take your word for it.  I guess I'll just rely on my low reputation to convey my lack of time on the forums.

i'm ready for the person who wants to answer handed to them on a platter to go away. keeps complaining about how many pages there are in the WTTS thread
Oh man like...you can either spend five minutes reading actual, legitimate information, or half your day wondering where the results are.

I had a friend get thrown out of a class once. Teacher kept referring to stay at home moms/dads as "Home Engineers". Then they went on to talk about the number pi and He politely raised his hand and asked if the teacher was referring to the "Home Engineer's" pie or 3.14 pi.

you're all over the place with your tasks! is this normal or only because of SWRQ?
A little bit? I'm generally a P&C engineer who does grounding and illumination on the side. I can do a suite of studies in SKM, but SWRQ was the primary studies engineer. However, we have an engineer in the field who needs help and I'm his in-office support this week.

I remember when I first started coming on EB during my first sitting for the exam and reading through the pages to dull my mind of waiting (for fail).

Gonna suck for SP-guy that when/if he gets his PE, he don't get a raise or a promotion (which is a kinda documented trend).

We are replacing an old Wonderware HMI for substation metering with a SEL HMI. This ancient ION meter does weird stuff, so we gotta convert the registers to two single tags so we can math the tags to get the value to display properly.
We're doing a job replacing GE D20s with the SEL Axion system. 2 of the sites are a breeze but one site has morphed into this ginormo effort because theres more than 1 D20 on site so we're going back and forth on replace the D20s with 1 Axion or multiple Axions. One RTAC brain? Is that a NERC CIP violation? it's a whole thing. and no one seems to be able to answer our questions so we can start it

In NY, if you have a "capital Engineer" in your job title, you need to either have EIT or PE at the end of your name somewhere.

So only EIT or PEs can be in Staff Engineer or Project Engineer roles.  Actually had someone in my company, who was an engineer (but never passed to PE), get promoted to principal.  But because they didn't have a PE they were a "Principal Scientist" instead of a "Principal Engineer".  Ultra serious in NY to call yourself an engineer without the license.  Also, engineering firms need to be a P.C. or something like that/owned by a license engineer to be able to do work in the state.

Noice.

I’m sorry for you on both accounts.
Why?

At least SEL's stuff is built to do what we are doing. The Wonderware was bodged together like 12 years ago and there was a LOT of scripting written to make it do what it did.
I love SEL equipment.

I have gotten to do illumination in FOREVER. i've been doing line terminal upgrades for the last 18 months and i'm bored AF. before that i was loaned out to another office for 8 months and their client was soooooo standardized that I felt my brain dying - leaving on time every day was nice tho. but I felt stuck in my knowledge building. and i'm reaching that point again

SP = Silver Platter guy.  I'm just reading the threads and laughing and laughing and laughing.  Usually the big complainers either pass (and never come back to EB) or fail (complain for a couple days/rage thread, and then never come back to EB because it's a 'stupid site that didn't help').  So only the good ones hang out.

But that would be like calling yourself a Lawyer just because you have a law degree, or calling yourself a Doctor just because you have a medical degree. True Engineers don't just have an engineering degree, they have a license to practice engineering.

Wasn't sure since  there's someone else with SP in their username who was talking about career plans pending pass/fail yesterday lol
