Growing up there was about 18 of us for Thanksgiving and as the years went by the number doubled and tripled until a few of us moved away... now those of us gone try to replicate the large family holiday with lots of food

my husband loves it because he'll get to eat leftovers until I tell him that it's time to throw it out

we also have an open door policy for the holidays at our house

back in 2011 I think we had 50+ people cycle through the house during the Christmas eve open house

but you never know who is going to be spending the holiday alone, so you want to have enough food to extend the invitation if you need to

Yeah, all of her family is in Ohio now which sucks. Last year her parents drove down with some of the grandkids for Christmas but it's getting a bit harder for them to do trips like this.

my older sister is about 2 hours away so she'll be here this year, but we'll probably be moving during the holidays next year (hopefully) so this may be the last one without someone having to drive further

once we move, it'll be plane tickets to visit family not driving

we drove up for Christmas a few years back
