I have a bachelor's in Physics (2010) and am currently working as an engineering technician in substation design.  I have been pondering two possibilities

a) getting second bachelor's in Electrical Enginnering

b) taking the FE straight out.

In my research of the FE, it is not clear if I am eligible to take the exam and move forward in that manner with my current degree.  My question is, does anyone have any experience taking the FE in this manner or know of whether it is an option or not.  If I were to take it and pass, would I be able to move forward as an EIT?

Thanks in advance.

You didn't list which state you are in but in CA, you can apply for the FE with three years of engineering experience, three years of engineering education, or a combo.  I would think there is a good chance your education (or at least a portion of) would qualify as engineering education.  But, if not, it sounds like you might have three years of engineering experience, correct?  I say go for it.  :)
