Position Description =
* Crane manufacturing company needs a Engineering Services Manager to manage personnel involved in Engineering Services activity with responsibility for the development and growth of Engineering Services business
* The Engineering Services Manager, as a member of the Technical Group, is the primary contact for all technical, commercial and sales issues relating to the Engineering Services business area.
* The Engineering Services Manager supervises all personnel with direct responsibility for Engineering Services activity.
* It is mandatory for the incumbent to be familiar with the requirements of the Quality Management System and to take an active part in the compliance and improvement of the Company’s Quality Programme. The adherence to the Company’s Quality Procedures and allied systems is required to maintain quality standards to API Q1.
* The incumbent must be fully conversant with the requirements of the Company’s Safety Policy and take an active part in the compliance and improvement of the Safety Management System, ensuring that the health and safety arrangements are being effectively applied by all subordinates.
* The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that subordinates are helped to perform their jobs effectively and have the learning opportunities through which their abilities and potential can be developed.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Administration
* Manage personnel involved in Engineering Services activity.
* Responsible for the coordination, planning, prioritization and execution of Engineering Services Projects in accordance with Company procedures and guidelines
* Accountable for Engineering Services systems, records and registers, to include:
* Ensuring Engineering Folder / File Management
* Maintaining Engineering Services Inquiry Register
* Maintaining Engineering Services Project Register
* Monitoring and Reporting of Project Time-Writing
* Responsible for the compilation, control and execution of the Engineering Services business area budget
* Responsible for the recruitment, training, appraisal and discipline of Engineering Services personnel
* Responsible for maintaining suitable records of all activities under direct responsibility
Main Processes
* Responsible for the development and execution of Engineering Services systems and methods.
* Responsible for business area development, through direct client contact and meetings, with particular focus on target customers as defined within the business plan.
* Accountable for implementing Inquiry Processing, to include:
* Bid Planning
* Development of Scopes of Work
* Production of Execution Plan
* Estimating
* CTR Production
* Proposal Formatting and Collation
* Submission Review and Approval
* Accountable for implementing Project Engineering activities, to include:
* Contract Review
* Financial Control
* Project Planning
* Design (to include compilation of Design Data Books comprising engineering calculations, drawings, method statements, planning charts and implementation procedures)
* Procurement (to include preparation of project Bill of Materials)
* Manufacture / Refurbishment
* Workpack Preparation and Review (to include engineering procedures, risk assessments, construction and commissioning checksheets, etc.)
* Project Implementation
* Invoicing
* Project Close-Out
* Engineering Services project activity encompasses the following disciplines: Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic and Machining.
* In this instance success is measured by attainment of the Business Plan Revenue and Profit and the delivery of projects to Safety and Quality standards.
* Responsible for progressing Engineering Services activities to meet project milestones.
* Responsible for ensuring project elements are checked and reviewed according to QA procedures.
Communication
* In line with Company systems, the position requires the organization of activity reviews based on project plans and subsequent prioritization and the conducting of weekly review meetings.
* Conduct internal meetings to progress ongoing, urgent or overdue issues.
* Liaison with VP, Projects & Technology and Team Leaders to ensure projects are progressing satisfactorily and milestones are met.
* Liaison with clients, sub-contractors, suppliers and company staff as required
* Responsible for the development and delivery of appropriate project reportage to reflect project reportage and the strategic development of the Engineering Services team.
* Contribute to the sales effort through direct client contact and meetings, with focus on target customers as defined within the Technical Group Business Plan.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
* Engineering Degree, Qualified in Structural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering
* Professional Engineer (PE) Certified
* Minimum of 8 - 10 years experience in Project Management / Project Engineering in offshore industry (or similar)
* Knowledge of relevant engineering standards (API, AISC, ASTM, AWS, SAE)
* Strong leadership skills
* Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
* Good computer skills
* Ability to perform tasks independently, with minimum supervision, as well as within a team environment
* Ability to multi-task and effectively manage work across multiple projects.
