Does anyone know which states (if any) besides California have state specific exams that must be taken prior to licensure as a Civil Engineer? I am licensed in mechanical and electrical already and have also passed the 8 hour civil exam. However, when I try explaining to my collegues or boss that I have to pass addtional exams prior to having my Civil License in CA, I get blank stares since most at my company are not familiar with the Civil Engineering licensing process in our state. I'd like to be able to say that in theory, "I have met the requirements for all states excet: California, State X, State Y, ect..."

Thanks in advance.

Outside of the state ethics/law quizzes, I believe California is the only state with specific exams.

This doesn't answer your question exactly but, FYI, Guam requires examinees to pass the CA-Seismic.
