Hi,

Can anyone explain to me why in the solution the voltage only rises to 50V? The current calculated in the problem uses VM of 100?

Thanks!

The forward resistance of the diode is 5k-ohm. The 100V supply is connected across the diode in series with a 5k-ohm resistor. The equivalent circuit when the diode is conducting is two 5k-ohm resistors in series. By voltage division, the resistor and the diode each have 50 volts across them.
