^You have to hit the refresh button on your browser to get the new avatar to show up. To change the centering of your avatar, go to your profile, click on "change" in the profile pic and then under your profile pic is a button to adjust crop.

Thanks mud. You're right - the profile pic eventually changed.

I saw the Adjust Crop option but 1.) I can't do anything. I just get one of those plus-sign move arrows but nothing happens.

and 2.) Even if I could, I don't know what to adjust or crop because the picture looks fine when I view it in my profile.

Arrrgggghh. Frustrating.
