We are now looking for a proactive and experienced Site Director leading our operations in the US, from our main plant in Boyceville, Wisconsin. Boyceville is located only 1-hour drive from Minneapolis and only a 15 - 20 minutes drive from charming Menomonie, home of the University of Wisconsin-Stout University and a campus of Chippewa Valley Technical College.
The main objective of this role is to lead Ohly ́s US operations (functional and disciplinary lead) with a two-dimensional responsibility, first as a Site Director leading all technical operations, and second as the formal General Manager and the disciplinary leader for all other US functions. The role is dynamic and will likely expose you for an array of leadership tasks, from performance management to team building. As such, we are looking for someone who enjoys this range of responsibilities.
You will be a visible player in a growing company consisting of highly competent colleagues. International peers will appreciate your presence at a variety of international Site Manager meetings; as well will your local leadership team demand your local presence and leadership. This role is central in terms of ensuring the building of a strong company culture, optimized production, and continuous improvement progress. The position offers an opportunity to make a difference on a production site in development. You will be visible to top management, in an international company and have the opportunity to take ownership and lead locally.
The Site Director will have the following responsibilities:
Operational Site Manager
• Oversee all production, maintenance, engineering, technology, quality and ESH functions at the Boyceville plant.
• Lead the operations group in order to maximize performance, in both efficiency and flexibility; ensuring maximized margins and volume objectives. Continually assess, guide and control the department’s performance by setting clear standards and using timely reporting, evaluations and corrective actions.
• Run a safe workplace with the aim to stay injury and accident free. Additionally, maintain product safety as well as environmental compliance.
• Develop operational leaders forming one Ops team that together strives for excellence.
• Be in close communication and alignment with the Global Operations Director.
• Establish improvement measures that challenge and stretch KPIs to ensure cost saving initiatives.
• Ensure that manufacturing changes and investments are justified. Ensure appropriate capital plans (timelines, resources, costs) are in place.
• Provide accurate planning for plant utilization, production, volume and material forecasts for current and upcoming years.
• Provide short term and long term operational planning strategies together with Ops leadership team.
• Manage and align the operational leadership in order to achieve the success of the following programs and systems: SOP’s, quality control, predictive and preventative maintenance, HACCP, GMP’s, sanitation, quality training/improvement, regulatory requirements.
• Stay compliant with all food quality regulations as well as food fraud prevention measures.
• Responsible for all regional safety (and HSE) policies, their execution and follow up on deviations.
• Communicate with legal counsel and HSE to ensure all processes remain compliant with ABFI, OSHA and other governmental regulations.
• Manage implementation of Operations related ABFI programs and policies (safety, etc.) and cooperation with relevant functions.
General Management Role
• Responsible for the administrative functionality & efficiency of the regional organization.
• Work closely with Ohly Senior Leadership Team and local leadership team to set and implement policies, procedures and systems and to follow through with the implementations.
• Ensure that Ohlys overall strategy is translated into local meaning, tasks and output for each team member in the leadership team.
• Responsible for business continuity, crisis management and risk management.
• Ensure and facilitate for cultural change and make sure the team is working cross-functionally.
• Implement programs to ensure compliance with all State and Federal laws.
• Ensure the Ohly America ́s license(s) to operate is not compromised.
• Manage union workforce negotiations together with HR Managers. Display a full understanding of existing work agreement to represent the company ́s position.
• Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.
• Support worker communication with the local leadership team.
• Identify and address problems and opportunities for the site.
• Provide inspired leadership for the site in alignment with Ohly leadership commitment and values.
• Ensure effective decision-making and action within the regional leadership team.
• Ensure that fair, thoughtful and beneficial performances as well as the development reviews are conducted annually for all direct and indirect reports in cooperation with HR.
What we expect:
• Hold a degree in engineering, production management or business
• Have management experience within a manufacturing; preferably within operations, engineering, maintenance or supply chain
• Experience from change management processes
• Cross-cultural experience and the ability to work closely with different stakeholders in an international environment
• Excellent people management skills, with strong skills to influence and motivate colleagues and stakeholders, you will also have excellent leadership and team-building skills to create a strong and enthusiastic company-wide team culture.
• Demonstrated a strong working knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety regulations
• Strong working knowledge of Quality Management / Continuous Improvement Systems
