    PMP Certification April 2013

Do you think it's worth it? I thought about taking it, but I cant justify the cost of the exam, study materials, and PDUs

    Masters in Engineering Management

I did a MEM, I also have a Mechanical Engineer's degree. I learned more that I apply to my every day job with the MEM and really enjoyed the program. I'd highly recommend it. Being military I dont have any knowledge on how it is viewed in the civilian engineering sector though. My wife is...

    Going for an MBA

my wife is currently doing the 100% online mba through Northeastern, she definitely prefers online over classroom learning.

Young Engineer - Need Career Advice

Based on the other threads I've read about things like this, I'd say stick it out until you get the PE experience, then look around again. You'll get an even better offer when you have PE after your name and your PE pay raise at your current company (whichever that may be at the time) will...

    Going for an MBA

I did a different path, I did a Masters in Engineering Management. It truly is an MBA for engineers, and I think it is the best option. My wife is doing an MBA and my core classes were basically identical, I just didn't have as much emphasis on the financial aspects later. Additionally, I...

How important is BS in engineering?

Your first year of college aren't you just taking prereqs anyway? I didnt even declare or take an engineering course until 2nd semester soph year anyway. I dont see how you can be that far behind that you cant choose engineering.

    MD six min solutions

MD 6 min solutions sucks. The problems are exponentially harder than the real thing. The best MD problems I think were in the practice exams.

    Comfortably Numb

Being military, I move a lot and CA was by far my best duty station. Great weather with a huge amount of things to do. Yea they're broke, but if the politicians had a spine, they'd actually make the cuts they need to restore their budgets. Unfortunately every time they talk about any kind of...

    PMP Certification

I'm not sure what I think about the PMP yet. My wife is taking the exam next month and it seems like it's a "memorize our terms and procedures for what you'd do anyway" kind of thing. I haven't decided if I'm going to do it as well, but it seems as if everybody who has taken it says to use the...

    California CA PE Exam Registration

Oh, you're good then. The NCEES test authorization letter will be posted on your account in the NCEES website. It doesn't come from the state board, it's from NCEES themselves.

    PE Exam continuing education requirment

I know the reason for it, but I disagree with it. I'd hope that a practicing engineer knows enough about their specific job to maintain proficiency on their own without state mandated requirements. Just because someone gets PDH hours doesn't mean they're competent or less prone to mistakes.

    Cheat Sheets

I thought about doing that, but I found it to be more time consuming than it was worth. I tabbed specific pages with constants, material properties, and formulas that I knew I'd need from doing sample problems and that was more than adequate.

    California CA PE Exam Registration

You should've gotten your card by now. I got mine end of August last year when I took it. If you're not getting an answer over the phone, try one of the other numbers listed instead of just the one assigned to your last name on the website.

What is the manliest thing you ever did?

Back to the topic - the manliest thing I've ever done is weld underwater. Pretty fun, even though I completely suck at it.

What is the manliest thing you ever did?

Well this cheeky and entertaining thread just got depressing FAST.

    PE Exam continuing education requirment

I sure hope my state never institutes a continuing education requirement. It seems like a huge pain in the nads.

    Movie thread

Did George Lucas do any more "enhancements" on the original trilogy? If so, I might skip it.

Mechanical Engineering Technology student here, freaking out.

Before changing your major, do a cost benefit analysis. If you did change majors, how long would it take, how many classes do you need, and how much will it cost? If any of those three is significant, its not worth it. If the big reason you want to switch is so you can become a PE, let me...

I'll watch Natalie Portman and/or Mila Kunis read a phonebook.
