SC Results Out...can someone confirm with LLR account?

SC felt like one of the last states to release results last year around this time.  The wait was agonizing but you have to be patient.  Good luck!  Go Cocks!

Pondering grad school, evaluating required prep for GRE

If it was closer to where I live, I'd probably look at trying to go there for grad school.  I'd still be a Carolina fan but school is school.

Pondering grad school, evaluating required prep for GRE

Na not going to head to an exclusive school.  Just the local state university.  I didnt take school super seriously so my GPA was pretty bad which I regret.  Thanks for the replies.

Pondering grad school, evaluating required prep for GRE

So I graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering about 7 years ago and have a PE license.  I'm interested in pursuing a masters in aerospace engineering a state public college and sounds like I have to take the GRE as part of my application.  Is the GRE something worth spending more than a...

Did you get a raise / bonus / perks after getting your PE?

I passed Oct '17.  To date all I have received is $50 in cash from my boss to go take my wife out to dinner and a call from the company president congratulating me.  Beyond that nothing has changed, I still work in a cubical making the same money.  My annual review is coming up which will...

How to transition to a core Design Engineer (CAD) role?

My company views designers as equals to drafters which would be a demotion compared to being an engineer.  The engineers that I know who's majority of time is spent using CAD usually own their own businesses and do contract engineering work.

Fellow Engineers, who have passed the PE exam, can you suggest me what you did different to pass the exam?

I do not recommend you try taking a different flavor of the PE just to pass if you plan to practice something else.  That would be unethical. I passed the MDM exam on the first try.  I only took the MERM and Shigley's Engineering Design books into the exam.  Use those books when working...

Design for wind loads on Tower mounted equipment

ASCE 7-10 chapter 26-29.  Which approach for determining wind loading would depend on what the structure the equipment is mounted on and probably how high up.  Wind loads are site specific, although you can use some free online untilities for basic wind speeds. http://windspeed.atcouncil.org/

Fellow Engineers, who have passed the PE exam, can you suggest me what you did different to pass the exam?

I bought the NCEES practice exam and worked through it about 5 times until I had a good understanding of all the concepts.  Honestly I thought it did a good job of covering everything I ran into on the exam itself.  For exam references I took in the MERM, Shigley's Mechanical Engineering Design...
