Possible to network in ones field while learning new science?

Or at least honing ones current scientific skill/knowledge?

How would one go about this?

NOTE: I am talking about non-pandemic or otherwise non-emergency situation.

I don't understand the question. You want to network within your current field while simultaneously learning a new field? Are you asking if networking and learning within the same field are somehow mutually exclusive?

I can't see any situation where you couldn't network and learn. In fact taking training or classes is a great way to network. But like I said, I'm not sure I understand the question.
