I wonder if Peru has a little more harsh interrogation techniques than "good cop bad cop" ?

My wife (who's Peruvian) said this morning that the daughter's dad would probably have him killed in prison. He's a pretty powerful guy, and it really wouldn't take much money to convince somebody in prison to do it. I'll be surprised if he makes it out of there alive.

No. I doubt that her dad will have him killed..

He'll be so full of remorse he'll hang himself in prison within a week.

At least that's how the news story will read.

news this morning said that he killed the girl in Peru because she used his computer and found out he was a suspect in Natalie Holloway's murder. So he snapped her neck and left her in the hotel room.

I wonder why that would make him kill her? Unless he date raped her but I would imagine if that happened she wouldnt linger around and use his lap top?

People are fucked up....

The news doesn't mention anything about the video surveillance showing him leaving for breakfast and coming back with breakfast for two at 8 am as he stated in his confession. It only stated they both entered his room at 5 am, and he left with a bag at 9 am.

It's surprising how Peru, a thrid world country, has so many cameras. Providing a defense, with all the video evidence, will be very difficult.

This was in an Atlantic City Hotel and Casino. There are nice and secure areas in third world countries. From people I talk to that travel a lot to third world countries say they are sorta like Tulsa where North Tulsa is the bad area and the rest of Tulsa is fairly good with some very nice areas. In these third world cities, it is reversed with a small very nice touristy and business area with the rest of the city much like North Tulsa.

I hear the prison cells are like 15 by 15 foot rooms for 20 people with a hole in the corner to crap. Not sure if that's true, but judging by some of the slums down there, I bet it's not a very nice place to be. Sort of like "City of God", only that movie was about Brazil. Pretty nasty some places. THere's a hill in Lima called "Morro Solar" with a church on top. It's covered with some pretty disgusting houses. and the places in the countryside are worse.

But "Miraflores" is pretty nice. That's where we stay down there.

^We have watched several shows on Discovery and such that show some of the prisons in Lima, and he is not going to have a good time. It will be interesting to see if he ends up in Lurigancho, which is considered to be one of the roughest prisons in the world. We also stay in Miraflores when we go to Lima. My inlaw's apartment is about 5 blocks from the Atlantic City Casino. They know my mother-in-law there by name! :D

Atlantic City Casino on the Pacific Ocean?

:dunno:

I'll take it your serious, although I'm not sure.

I don't know if you've traveled much out of the country, but especially in what might be considered developing countries, they like to use well known American names. That's why you might find the "Hollywood" Restaurant on the middle of Manila, or the "Atlantic City" casino in Lima. It has nothing to do with the ocean.

I was partly serious, partly joking.

I have travelled out of the country a few times, I've been to Germany, Switzerland, the UK, Mexico, Carribean Islands, Kenya, and Tanzania. I wouldn't say I'm an extensive traveler.

I couldn't tell if you were talking about the name of the Casino or the name of the city. Either way it sounded a bit odd.

Well, to be precise, it wasn't me who mentioned the name of the casino. That was the first I heard of it, although I'm sure it's been all over the news.

I have travelled out of the country a few times, I've been to... Kenya
You didn't happen to stumble on any interesting birth certificates while you were there, did you?

I may or may not have. But I'm not authorized to talk about what I may or may not have seen.

My morbid thoughts tend to lead me down dark scenarios. He killed Stephany 5 years to the day that Natalie dissappeared... or 5 years to the day that he killed Natalie. Is is possible that he killed a young girl every year on the same day for 5 years... just this time he got too sure of himself and got caught?
