    Passed, Pay Raise?

That truly stinks. However, you can always tell the guy that it's not good enough and make a counter offer. The easiest time to ask for a raise is before you start the position. But, be realistic as well. salary.com is a great resource.

    Passed, Pay Raise?

There are a handful of states that allow this. I know Texas and Idaho are among them. Not sure which others are. Heck, in California architects can (or at least used to be able to) seal MEP design drawings. Not sure if that's still the case, but it was 10ish years ago.

I was notified this morning that I passed PE exam. Can I put 'P.E.' title on my signature block now?

My case (was going to be) I lived and worked in one state but most of my projects came from CA and I would be licensed in CA. That was going to be my situation until I decided to wait it out until I had 4 years of experience. I was pretty sure I'd be OK. My concern was that we did work...

    Thanks to everyone!

I agree. This forum is a great resuorce, especially for the useful reference materials and the sense of camraderie. If I hadn't been exposed to some of the materials (the wildi book in particular), I'm sure I wouldn't have done as well as I did. It also helped passing the time until results...

    Study Materials

I'll just say that I really believe that the Wildi book is a MAJOR contributor to my passing the PE. I think it's a great reference for a very broad amount of Power Engineering. I almost exclusively used that, my Power System Analysis (Glover/Samar) book from school, and the NEC Handbook. I...

    Beer Label Quiz

13 out of 15. Which isn't bad seeing how the only beer from that list I drink is Guiness.

    Passed, Pay Raise?

None yet. However, we're in the process of reviews, so here's hoping. :dancingnaughty:

    Texas

Passed as well. Great sense of relief. Out of curiousity, is the score a percentile or an absolute percentage. Not that its a big deal, just inquiring minds want to know.

    Passing Banner

Speaking as one of the poor bastards slowing driving themselves insane waiting, let's not tempt fate. It's bad enough to know we haven't even hit 8 weeks yet. :smileyballs:

    Can't take the waiting!

According to another thread, there's about a 1 week difference between the PS/FS to the FE and then another week to the PE. This time there was 5 days, so it looks good. Maybe 1 week left.

    Can't take the waiting!

Glad I'm not the only one. Halfway there and I think I'm gonna go nuts. And trying not to think about it makes it worse, I swear.

    How did it go?

I noticed that as well. Fortunately, my standard test taking policy is to go through all the problems first. If I know the answer, circle it. If it's a computation, set it up but don't solve it. Otherwise, i just skipped it. Get through in 1/2 hour or so. Then I can take a deep breath and...

    How did it go?

I took Power and that was my experience s well. The morning session kicked my butt some, but the afternoon seemed simple after that. Overall feeling is good, assuming that I answered the question that they were asking. There were a few that the hardest part what was they were looking for...

    almost there

I'm right there with you. Done with the studying. Tomorrow it's just coasting to Friday. Probably read a couple of articles to practice reading slowly and methodically.

    Class of April '11

I'll be testing in April as well. I'll be using the following print materials. Power system analysis book from school Electrical Machines, Drives, and Power Systems by Wildi Electric Machinery by Fitzgerald/Kingsley NEC 2008 Handbook Engineering Economics book from school EC&M...

    searching

Probably by problem number. Or look at the thread here. It's also stickied at the top of this forum. Or you could just ask away and get a discussion started. Odds are you're not the only person with the question.

    NCEES 123, Power

My understanding is that Luminous Flux (measured in Lumens) is the total perceived light emitted from, in this case, a lamp. Illuminance is total luminous flux on a surface. The Unit is lumens per unit area (Square meter or square foot). Hope that helps. IIRC (Don't have test in front of me)...

    Sample Test vs Real Test

I hadn't realized that the formula sheet should be in ink. Is that a requirement or just a precaution? Binding machine makes sense, though. It'll be nice as a future reference. Right now I'm using a 4" binder with dividers. First 1-3 pages in each section are formulas/rules of thumb and...

    Full-time job and BSEE?

I did. So did my dad, actually. My dad did it while working at the university's physical plant. I worked 35 hours/week at a consulting engineering firm and took a full load of classes (12+ credits/semester and 6+ for summer school) and graduated in 4.5 years (with a 3.something or other GPA)...
