Computer Engineering- Double major with Computer Science or Software Engineering

Peele has good advice, but it only applies if you know what you want to do. If you have no idea (like I did), save the money, put it in a good mutual fund, then use it when you really know what you want out of your career. Btw, I got two degrees, Electrical eng, and computer science with a...

    Firm Registration

Thanks for all the fantastic replies!! A few clarifying points: 1) The previous PE of record left, so thats the reason for the vacancy. 2) We don't do drawings, and I don't have to stamp anything. I'm a CSE, so we don't really stamp anyways. 3) Our company is fairly large, but small in Texas...

    Firm Registration

In Texas, for a company to "offer engineering services", they must have a PE in a position of "responsible charge". My boss has recently asked me to become that person. We're a small company, so my responsibilities won't change. Thus its not a promotion of any sort. So the question is, how much...

    EE-Comp Exam

Since there is always so little info about the EE-comp exam, I'll share my thoughts while it’s still relatively fresh in my mind. First off here are the books that I used to study. -NEECS Sample Exam -PPI Electrical-Comp Package -Schaum’s Computer Architecture (ISBN: 0-07-136207-X)...

    what's after PE?

I have to say its a little hard to think of another exam until I get the results back... but since I do Control Systems work, I'm thinking of getting ISAs Certified Automation Professional (CAP). Does anyone have any other ideas???

    PE / Electrical Experiance formatting

Texas has a sample form on the tbpe site: http://tbpe.state.tx.us/downloads.htm#license look for : "EXAMPLE OF A SUPPLEMENTARY EXPERIENCE RECORD" I would assume your state has one too... then again it is NY ;)

    Computer Experts - help needed

Look at the tick marks below. T0 is one, T1 is one, T2 is zero.... T10 is zero; thus 11 total bits transmitted We're told 8 useful bit transmitted so 8/11 is 73% I don't think the number of start/stop bits is important. Just that there are 11 bits, 8 are useful. Hope that helps

    Which EE PE?

Getting a PE isn't a career (or industry) limiting move. Don't get caught up in the what if's...just focus on getting it!

    Comp Exam Question

Problem 118 in the NEECS sample exam gives a large-scale integrated circuit and ask what is the best description of the circuit. I found information about phase detectors, and phase-locked loop, but I couldn't find any information on Clock-phase skew compensator or Multiphase clock extractor...

    Electrical Control System

As benbo said only the core engineering disciplines have full PE powers. I know for sure this pertains to sealing drawings. Unlike wilheldp I've found that the EE-comp exam has pretty minimal exam preparation material. Most because it is a new exam. If you're taking the CSE exam, become an ISA...

    What's allowed in the exam

Posted on another list by a Texas PE board member: "Nothing with pencil marking is allowed. It's an exam security issue. Since you are only allowed to write with a pencil during the exam itself, if you don't have any pencil marking in your materials, it helps them feel secure that you are not...

Network +, A+, or CCNA Ref Materials for the Computer Exam

Assuming the computers are on the same IP/subnet range, the switch will only 'hear' the message, not resend it.

    PPI Exam Cafe

I've been using Exam Cafe for the Computer exam. The questions aren't anything like the test, its more like a review of concepts. I like that I can work on them from any where (even my phone). But if you're looking to practice exam problems, its not worth it...

    PPI

I purchased the PPI material for the computer exam (its 90% the same as electronics and power), and I'm a bit unimpressed by the coverage of the computer exam. In addition to the comments made by others (that its too general of a book), it doesn't seems to cover the topics properly. For example...
