This chart shows the daily wind generation fed into the systenm operator in California. We're supposed to have around 2,000 MW of capciity bu tI've got to guess that assumes optimal wind conditions because we sure aren't generating anywhere near that much today, and we could use it.

That sure is a tiny amount of power. Maybe the wind is just dead today. I'm not expert but I beleive there is something about wind power that makes it harder to generate when it's hot. One jet engine peaker generates more than all the wind farms are generating today at 1 PM.

Just put the generator at the door of the state legislature. That baby will be humming in no time.

 
7-800MW on 2000MW capacity... That's actually as good or better than my cynical self would predict (I would not have been surprised to see 20% and you've got 35-40%).

Hmm, I wonder what percent capacity the nukes are running at? 99 perhaps?
