Hi,

For the PM Transportation test, which references are needed for the phasing, signal timing, pedestrian walkways, left-turn lane length, etc. problems? Is the HCM good enough to solve all these types of problems? I know all about the geometric design problems and those references but just wanted to make sure that the HCM will be enough to solve all the traffic/capacity/accident analysis problems. Do we need the ITE book?

Also, has anyone here taken the ITRE PE Trial Exam? If so, the types of problems I'm referring to are the ones similar to #301 - 310. These problems do seem a lot harder than the NCEES Sample exam though.

Thanks for any help!

I have not seen the storage length stuff in the HCM. It seems the ITE Traffic Engineerign handbook may be required to solve those problems. There is one such problem in sample NCEES PM transpo for which they used the ITE book.
